Jose Mourinho was humiliated by Bodo/Glimt in Norway. The Norwegian club thrashed Mourinho’s Roma 6-1 in a Europa Conference League group stage match on Thursday, October 21.
Since the 58-year-old Portuguese manager started his coaching career in 2000, his team has never been so beaten. Unfortunately for him, his worst defeat came at the hands of minnows with little or no pedigree in European football.
The Norwegian side started demolishing Roma as early as the 8th minute of the European third division game. Before the 20th minute, the Norwegian side had doubled their led.
Roma tried to fight back but all they got was a 28th-minute goal which didn’t make much difference. When Jose Mourinho thought his team had played the worst type of football they could play in the first half, Bodo/Glimt returned in the second half to score four more goals to earn a 6-1 victory.

In the 1008 games that Jose Mourinho has been in charge of, the Portuguese have never had it so bad. More so, a Norwegian side has never scored more than four goals against an Italian side.
The humiliating defeat has pushed Roma from the first spot of Group C of the Europa Conference League to the second spot with 6 points in three games. While Bodo/Glimt are now occupying the first spot with 7 points in 3 games.

After the humiliating 6-1 defeat on the artificial surface at Aspmyra Stadion in Norway, Jose Mourinho blamed himself for selecting a weaker team to face the Norwegian side.
While blaming himself for the lineup he decided to go with, the Portuguese tactician stressed that he chose a weaker team against Bodo/Glimt to rest some regular players.
“I’m the one who decided to play with the team we use tonight, so it’s my responsibility,” Mourinho told Sky Sport Italia.
“I did it with good intentions and to give opportunities to those who work hard and also give a rest to some guys. Tonight we lost against a team with more quality, it’s as simple as that.
“If I could use the same players every match I would. It’s risky because there’s a huge gulf between our first choice and second choice players. I expected better, but it’s my responsibility.”
“Every defeat leaves scars. I already spoke frankly and honestly to the players. The good thing is that no one will keep asking me why the same players keep playing.”
Jose Mourinho decided to sacrifice the Europa Conference League for the Italian Seria A game against the league table leader, Napoli. Roma are scheduled to play against unbeaten Napoli on Sunday, October 24, 2021, at 17:00.
If Roma wins the game, they could move from the 4th spot to the 3rd spot pending the outcome of other games. If they lose, they could drop out of the top four.
Hence, Jose Mourinho has stressed that his team cannot afford to do anything wrong during the Serie A game against Napoli.
“We can’t get Sunday wrong against Napoli,” he said. “Our first choice players have been doing well. They’ll weigh this defeat on their shoulders.”
Jose deserves to be humiliated. I think he claimed to be "the Special One." Chai!!!
