Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery To Begin B.Sc, M.Sc


 The Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin is set to begin B.Sc, M.Sc Programs.

This was disclosed in a statement released by the Press Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mansurat Amuda-kannike on Friday.

According to the statement, Kwara State Governor, Mall Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq through the Ministry of Teritairy Education signed Memorandum of Understanding with LAUTECH to commence the programmes next academic session.

“Education is the foundation for development of any society. It’s therefore not surprising that the Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq led administration has consistently provide necessary support for all Teritairy institutions in Kwara State to full their mandate and deliver quality education to students.

The story at Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin that is almost going into moribund during immediate past administration in the state has become reference point for improvement in Kwara Education sector.

It is not an over statement to say the school has witnessed progress in every facet including infrastructural development, staff welfare and development and particularly by fulfilling its core mandate of training Nurses and Midwives to provide support for other health workers.

According to the State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Senior Ibrahim Sulyman Esq, Without the efforts of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq the School of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin would have become moribund adding that the Administration of Mallam Abdulrahman Abdulrasaq has injected life into this institution with numerous supports and timely interventions to enhance the Standard of the School

The commitment and deliberate investment of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq is yielding good fruits as the State College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin has perfected plans to commence degree and Master’s programmes in Nursing Sciences, Maternal and Child health Nursing, Public Health, accident and emergency, paediatric Nursing, Opthalmic Nursing and midwifery education in partnership with Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.

The school after getting the nod of Governor Abdulrazaq through the Ministry of Teritairy Education signed Memorandum of Understanding with LAUTECH to commence the programmes next academic session.

This development is one of the key achievements of Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq administration in the college established to provide leadership for theeducation of nurses at the Basic and Post-basic Nursing and Nursing programmes who practice within an integrated, dynamic, and diverse health care system.

It’s heartwarming to note that the college has secured the accreditation from the Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria to commence degree programmes in their core areas of specialization, The NUC accreditation team reportedly expressed the delight due to quality of infrastructure in Kwara State College of Nursing and Midwifery Ilorin.

The affiliation with LAUTECH to run degree in Nursing Sciences and other Post graduate programs came with ease as a result of Abdulrazaq’s intervention which led to installation of Computer Based Test (CBT) centre, provision ofstandard e-library to facilitate e-learning as well as teaching, upgrading of classroom with modern gadgets such as projector, building and equipping Nursing training laboratory and Midwifery practical centre.

Provision of aforementioned facilities paved way for upgrade of College of Nursing and Midwifery, Ilorin to degree awarding institution inline with directive of Federal Ministry of Education and other regulatory bodies such as the Nursing and midwifery council of Nigeria.
