Health insurance has been described as a reliable means of ensuring a healthy living, to enhance a productive workforce.
The Executive Chairman, Kwara State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), Mallam Bello Abubarkar Tauheed stated this in Ilorin while playing host to the Executive Secretary of the Kwara State Health Insurance Agency, Dr. Olubunmi Jetawo-winter in his office on an advocacy visit.
Mallam Tauheed said that “there is no better time than now to embrace this scheme and this can only happen because we have a dynamic governor who cares for every citizen, irrespective of their status. It is affordability, makes it a worthwhile gift for not just teachers but every resident of the state."
While thanking Governor AbdulrRahman AbdulRazaq for adding the insurance scheme as a benefit to teachers, few months after approving outstanding promotions and the implementation of the minimum wage,
Mallam Tauheed urged teaching and non teaching staff of the commission to key into the scheme as soon as it is rolled out for civil servants.
Earlier, the Executive Secretary of Kwara State Health insurance Agency, Dr Olubunmi Jetawo-Winter reaffirmed that teachers are class of Civil Servants who are highly revered.
According to her, “teachers play critical roles at ensuring a successful future of any given society, therefore to stay healthy must be the priority of Government. This is why the present administration has decided to mandate all teachers to enrol in the scheme."
The Executive Secretary stressed further that the scheme is another way of saving money and ensuring that residents of the state stays healthy.
She charged the staff of TESCOM to join hands to make the scheme work and to nip all malpractices in the bud as it is their collective responsibilities to ensure that the scheme works.
