Uncertainties have pervaded the governorship primary election of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) slated for Tuesday March 8 in Osun State as Soji Adagunodo-led faction secured a court injunction recognizing the ward executive officers elected under it as the authentic delegates.
The court injunction has thereby introduced another division as Sunday Bisi-led faction insisted that the governorship primary would go on as planned irrespective of the court injunction.
The judgement delivered by Justice A. A. Aderibigbe, held that the ward executive officers elected on the September 25, 2021 are the only authentic and authorized ward executive officers permitted to vote delegates at the party's governorship primaries scheduled to take place on 8th of March, 2022.
The judgement has, however, nullified the ward congress held on February 23, 2022 and the new delegates may not be allowed to conduct the coming governorship primary.
But, the Director of Media and Strategy, Sunday Bisi-led faction, Oladele Oluwabamiji, said the injunction does not hold water and the governorship primary would hold.
Not minding it the court may nullify the primary if it eventually hold without using the executives elected during the ward congress organized by Adagunodo, Oluwabamiji said the delegates to be used were not manufactured but elected with the knowledge of the national body of the party.
He said, "such an injunction does not hold water to us as far as we are concerned.
"We have a supreme court declaration that court can not dabble into the affair of a political party. We know that some elements in the party are trying to carry out hatchet job for APC.
"We are moving ahead of them. The national body of our party will react to that. We will handle it and react appropriately.
"We are going ahead with our primaries on Tuesday. I can only advise the national body of our party who conduct Congress including the one in question where they are trying to say somebody list should be used.
"Party leadership in Osun does not manufacture delegates. National body will look into it. By the grace of God, we are going ahead with the primary on Tuesday," he insisted.
Meanwhile, one of the governorship aspirants, Dr Akin Ogunbiyi, has hailed the decision of the court, recognizing Adagunodo's delegates as the authentic to conduct the coming governorship primary.
A statement made available to our correspondent by one Tolulope Ajayi, said "we at the Akin Ogunbiyi political group in Osun state salutes the courage, fairness and the wisdom of Osun State High court sitting in Ijebu-ijesha which has granted an order of mandatory injunction recognizing ward executive officers elected under former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon. Olasoji Adagunodo as the authentic officers permitted to vote as delegate at the forthcoming governorship primaries of the PDP.
"We have always believed that the Nigeria judiciary has indeed come of age. Gone are the days of fear and undue anxiety as we have the best of men and women in the Nigerian judiciary who dispense justices with fairness, courage and unmatched wisdom.
"With this wonderful judgement, we believe that the Daniel has indeed come to judgement but prayed that the right political wisdom will prevail on the national leadership of PDP to obey the court judgement rather than being in abeyance.
"Nothing done in deviant of the law will ever stand the test of time. As it has always being said and popularly believed, nobody can put something on nothing. It is good and advisable to do the needful now rather than playing the ostrich. We are by this judgement further encouraged to keep the vision alive until the victory is won."
The PDP is not serious. They are still fighting over the delegate list for the governorship primary less than 5 months before the election.
