PDP members protest, reject deputy governorship candidate in Osun

Some members of the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in Osun State, have protested against the choice of Kola Adewusi as the deputy governorship candidate.

The protesters in Ile-Ife, carried placards with various inscriptions, describing the proposed deputy governorship candidate as unfit for the party.

The governorship candidate of the party, Senator Ademola Adeleke, emerged recently in the governorship primary held in a controversial manner.

While Adeleke came from Osun West, the party is looking for the deputy in the East, hence the choice of Ile-Ife.

A video obtained by our Correspondent, showed the protesters saying "with Kola Adewusi as our deputy governor, PDP is gone. We don't want him."

When contacted, the Director of Media and Strategy, Sunday Bisi-led faction

Oladele Oluwabamiji, said the candidate has not been officially presented as the deputy.

He called on the party to engage the people of Ile-Ife before they submit the name to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

He said, "it is an eyeopener for the party to engage more. There should be more consultations and engagement with the people. People have to know. Ife is a traditional community. The party knows the voting pattern of the place.

"Though, it is still a speculation because the name has not been submitted to INEC," Oluwabamiji added.
