NASSCO concludes sensitization campaign on Covid-19 Rapid Response Register in Kwara, sets to deploy USSD code for registration

The National Social Safety-nets Coordinating Office (NASSCO) has concluded its robust sensitization campaign on Covid-19 Rapid Response Register (RRR) in Kwara State just as it is set to begin registration of beneficiaries through Short Messaging Service (SMS) and USSD Code.

Mr Taiye Iliasu, Head of Operations, Kwara State Operations Coordinating Unit of the NASSCO made this known in Kosuboso, the headquarters of Baruten Local Government Area of the state.

Iliasu disclosed that the process of registering for the project would involve deployment of Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) code and broadcasting of Short Messaging Service (SMS) to cell-phones in all eligible communities.

Speaking with newsmen shortly after the sensitization exercise organized for community focal persons of Gure/Gwasoro ward, the coordinator hinted that the unit had deployed several sensitization strategies specifically designed to educate and create wider awareness across the 507 communities eligible for the project so as to enhance robust participations.

Some of the strategies adopted over the last three weeks according to him include airing of radio jingles in local languages, advocacy and sensitization, distribution of hand bills/posters, stakeholder engagements, meetings with communities’ focal persons and direct engagement with target groups across 26 wards selected for the project among others.

Iliasu expressed confidence that the exercise would be successful in  Kwara State as the target groups had been well sensitized and fully aware of the process and purpose of the project.

He added that the groups were ready to take advantage of the Federal Government's gesture aiming at cushioning the economic impact of Covid-19 pandemic. USSD code for registration
