The Kwara State Government has warned the people of the state to stop sabotaging its efforts in waste management and disposal strategies.

The State Commissioner for Environment, Hon. Abosede Olaitan Buraimoh, gave this warning while on inspection tour in the Ilorin metropolis to check the level of compliance with proper refuse disposal procedures.

Buraimoh, who frowned at indiscriminate dumping of refuse in the state capital, wondered why there was low compliance with proper waste disposal procedures said "despite government's efforts in placing rorobins at strategic places to prevent illegal disposals",adding that people still dump refuse at road sides and other inappropriatep places.

Buraimoh insisted that "this act must stop. We can't continue dumping refuse indiscriminately, it pollutes the environment and is very dangerous to health. We all need to compliment government's efforts in serving the state by obeying the rules guiding environmental sanitation."

She said that the rorobins should be used for the dumping of wastes, stressing that wastes should not be disposed in drainages, road sides or road medians.

Those in the Commissioner's team included the Director of Personnel, Finance and Supply, Pastor Adeniran Adebara, Director of Environment, Mr Towoju Gabriel and other principal staff of the ministry
