Adeleke wins Osun's PDP Gubernatorial Primaries

Senator Ademola Nurudeen Adeleke is the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) primary election for the Osun State 2022 governorship election.

Senator Adeleke polled 1,887 votes to defeat his closest rival Dotun Babayemi and the other four aspirants at Osun PDP Primaries held at Osogbo township stadium on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.

The election was conducted by Osun governorship primary election committee from PDP  National Secretariat, Abuja.

The exercise which was monitored by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) inline the electoral act was said to be peaceful and transparent.

Below is the Final result of Osun State PDP gubernatorial primary election:

1,916 delegates accredited

1. Ademola Adeleke – 1,887

2. Dele Adeleke – 01

3. Akinbade Fatai – 00

4. Dotun Babayemi – 00

5. Akin Ogunbiyi – 00

6. Sanya Omirin – 04

Invalid votes – 24



Parallel primary

Chief Electoral Officer of the Osun PDP primary, Abiye Sekibo, told Channels Television that Senator Adeleke won over 1,800 votes with the rest of the five candidates on the ballot sharing just five votes.

He described the election as “smooth and calm.”

However, there were reports of a parallel primary being held in the state.

Mr Sekibo said he was not aware of such a primary.

“I am not aware that there was a parallel primary,” he said. “We have a letter signed by our party’s National Working Committee constituting our election committee. And we are complete.”
