It was a dramatic evening at King Power Stadium on Saturday, October 16, 2021 as coach Brendan Rodgers led Leicester City to end Manchester United’s unbeaten away run with a 4-2 victory.

Manchester United flew 100 miles from the city of Manchester to Leicester City with all their top stars including Cristiano Ronaldo, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho, and Harry Maguire, only to be defeated with three late goals.

The visitors started the game like a house on fire with 99 percent of the players coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needed for the game fully available. They looked unstoppable in the first 20 minutes and also looked like they were there for another away victory.

Their pressure on Leicester City paid off in the 19th minute when Mason Greenwood gave his team the lead. But Leicester City found a way to turn things around in the 31st minute thanks to Youri Tielemans’s strike.

In the remaining minutes of the first half, the two teams were not able to take advantage of their chances. Hence, the first half ended 1-1.

The second half was a different ball game as Leicester City came all out to fight their visitors. Their effort on Solskjaer’s men paid off in the 78th minute thanks to a strike from Caglar Soyuncu.

Leicester’s victory did not last more than four minutes before Manchester United came back via Marcus Rashford’s 82nd-minute strike.

One minute later, Jamie Vardy stepped up to do his job for Leicester. He scored in the 83rd minute to break the hearts of United’s supporters that traveled with the team to King Power Stadium.

As Manchester United were trying to get back into the game, Leicester City made it worst for their visitors with the fourth goal of the evening, courtesy of Patson Daka’s strike.

The 4-2 victory over Leicester City has taken Brendan Rodgers’ men to the 11th spot on the league table with 11 points in 8 games, four points away from the 4th spot which is currently the club’s target.

On the other hand, the 4-2 defeat has dropped Manchester United off the top four to the 5th spot pending the outcome of other weekend games. The club currently has 14 points in 8 games, a point away from the 4th spot.

Aside from United’s rank on the Premier League table, the defeat has added more pressure on coach Solskjaer who is believed to be the reason why the team has not been consistent so far this season.

Since the defeat, the #Oleout campaign on social media has gained more momentum and is gradually looking like the Norwegian football tactician might be sacrificed for the team’s unreliable performance.

  2. First impression is always the deepest. I don't see them making any headway this season. They're simply relishing on their past glory. Nothing to show for at this time.
